This has to be one of Tenyo's effects. The locking mechanism is so easy to use (lock and unlock) yet it is undetectable to the spectators. I have handed out the pen in every single performance and no one has ever figure it out. Another really good thing about this pen in particular is the simplicity of it, it looks like an average office pen. Whereas other pens look fancy and prop-like/gimmicked. One thing to consider is that the brand "Tenyo" is printed on the pen. However, this shouldn't be a problem as most pens have their brand labeled on them (so no one will question it unless they know the brand) and even of they know Tenyo they wouldn't know how it works.
