The Best Magic App for Magicians

We polled our team of professional magicians about what they thought the best magic trick app was. The results were so close, we had to call it a tie.

Both WikiTest and Inject were picked as the best magic app for magicians.

This is probably not shocking to anyone familiar with app magic. These are two of the most iconic and influential apps for magicians ever made. They’re self-contained, easy to learn and don’t require any assistants. Just watch the video instructions and you’re good to go.

Let’s look a little closer.

WikiTest by Marc Kerstein

wikitest magic app

While we called it a tie, WikiTest did technically win by a slight margin. This was not a surprise. Most magicians and mentalists would agree that WikiTest is the most popular magic app ever and one of the best magic tricks with your phone. It even won Trick of the Year in a global vote by magicians that included all types of magic tricks from card tricks to mentalism tricks.

What is WikiTest? It’s a book test in your pocket. WikiTest transforms the popular mentalism effect into a digital magic trick you can take with you anywhere. Enjoy all the fun of reading minds without having to around heavy books or magazines. You don’t even need to learn mentalism because it’s so easy to do.

You open up Wikipedia on someone else’s phone and instruct them to search for anything they want. They then scroll through the article until they find a long word they like. You then read their mind. Impossibly, you can tell them both the random word they found and the word they originally searched.

Magicians and mentalists love how easy WikiTest is to use. Anyone can learn it in minutes. Apple Watch compatibility and a variety of pairing modes allow you to even perform the effect without your phone being in play. You could walk up to someone with completely empty hands and perform a miracle on their phone. All without your phone leaving your pocket.

WikiTest also helped spark the popularity of app integrations. It seamlessly works with many of the most popular magic apps. Beyond being able to read someone’s mind, this allows you to leverage the secret information in new wasy. For example, if you pair WikiTest with Hydra, you can have the secret word they searched appear as a prediction on your real Instagram page or Facebook page.

The creator of WikiTest Marc Kerstein is also often lovingly referred to as the Godfather of app magic. While he’s created many of the best magic tricks apps for magicians, WikiTest remains his most significant creation. Most importantly though, he’s a very active developer that regularly updates WIkiTest with new features and improvements.

Pretty much the only flaw with WikiTest is the fact that it’s only available for iPhone. That’s why we also included Inject.

Inject 2 by Greg Rostami

inject 2 magic app

Inject offers the same basic functionality as WikiTest, but with Google instead of Wikipedia. They Google something on their phone, and you instantly know it. This is one of the easiest mentalism tricks you can learn.

Inject will instantly make you look like a famous mentalist. No skill or memorization needed.

Inject comes with tons of pre-set routines that you can learn in minutes from straight mind reading to a map prediction and even a stunning routine where you use a video as proof you predicted the future.

inject houdini trick There are also ways you can covertly input information while your phone is out of sight. This is best seen in the most popular Inject effect, the Houdini Effect. After having a card selected, you tell your friend that you predicted their choice ahead of time. You bring out a photo of Harry Houdini holding a card. Since they can only see the back, they think it’s a gag. That is until they zoom in on his eyes and see the correct card is reflected in his pupils.

While the pre-loaded effects are great, Inject’s popularity largely stems from its robust customization features. Inject is more customizable than WikiTest. You can essentially make your own magic tricks. And many people have! An active community of Inject users has created a huge variety of amazing effects and powerful add-ons that push the limits of Inject.

The fact Inject works with any operating system is also a huge plus.
