Hoftwister from Blomberg Laboratories, performed by Madison Hagler.

"Hoftwister" is Tomas' flagship trick that makes use of his Packet Morpher sequence, explained in Blomberg Laboratories. A card is selected and returned to the deck (say, the Seven of Clubs). Tomas then takes the face-up Jacks and one by one makes them magically turn face down; that is, all except for the Jack of Clubs, which stays face up to indicate the suit of the selection.

In a strange turn of events, the Jack of Clubs then turns into the selection. Not only that, but the remaining three Jacks also turn into the other three Sevens to complete this surprisingly clean effect.

All entries from this series come from Tomas Blomberg’s Blomberg Laboratories book.

This routine is not for me because I do not like routines where your speech is not consistent with what you show (here, display of the Jacks, display of the seven). I know that it is not the only routine with the methods used here, but I'm not at ease with this kind of methods when I think the spectator can notice something strange. But, to be more accurate, I use the Elmsley count regurlaly, but not to display 4 faces as if they were 4 différent faces, while there are only 3 different faces. I use also the flustration count, but in this count, you say that all the cards are the same AND you show all the cards are the same.
