This is one of the first things I purchased at VI. So much information and variations on the bluff shift. Something for everyone. Most are easy to do with a little practice. From one card control to multiple cards, in the hands and on the table. And then you get the bonus color change that Josh does all the time. Joshua Jay is one of the best teachers. A must buy download.

After all these years, I still use two of the bluff controls to this day. The most fooling one I use is for the table and is an effortless control where they can even square the cards themselves. If you've heard of the bluff pass, this is the nuances and the reworkings to make the pass more convincing and smooth. It still requires confidence and a bluff but the techniques taught here, especially Jay's take on a thumb break alternative definitely help out with the move. I think I got the download for $5 back in the day and hopefully people are still learning from this.

This is a fantastic tutorial on bluff shifts. For the price of only twelve dollars this is an amazing deal. The revolve shift is probably my favorite, I use it all the time. The other ones are also really good. D’hotel change is also a great bonus if you don’t already know it. Good to know different shifts for different tricks or different situations. Useful for any level of magician.

Rather than go into a great deal of detail about what a wonderful instructional video this is, let me just say that it IS a wonderful instructional video and you would not only be insane not to buy it--you would be insane to waste your time reading all the glowing reviews it gets, rather than just buying it and learning the material. How many five-star reviews do you have to read before you decide to take the plunge?

I have just begun doing Beginner card magic and coin magic, so this is well beyond the scope of my Beginner level (plus, I have one hand that has damage from spine injury [but after 17 years the feeling is coming back and I can hold cards and coins better than 15 years ago]). I was going to ask for a refund because I'm not up to speed on this one ***** (not giving anything away here).

However! That's a defeatist attitude. I WILL be able to do these some day after practicing more Beginner card work offered for free right here on VI.

My only issue with the video is the volume falls off after the intro.

In summation? I would have to recommend this to everyone, even a Beginner, because for $12 you get to see a Master magician and performer not only perform these blind bluff "routines", but give you tips and a secret that quite frankly I think is priceless.

I like goals; this gives me something to work towards.

To the bottom is very devious. You wouldn't think it would be deceptive, but at speed it is. It reminded me of Allan Ackerman's "Simulated double undercut."

There is a lot of great information and advice on this cleverly devised slight with insight by the designer. It is a move that is for the walking magician as well as when doing table magic for people. Professionally taught by its designer and well know Magician Josh Jay.

Such a great list of moves to practice. A huge fan of passes and shifts. There truly sleights that take practice but all worth it on the end. The bonus color change is a gem i highly recommend this tutorial!

This is really good. Joshua Jay teaches a variety of controls which are fooling and very simple to do. These play really well in live performances and can is the perfect control. It's also super fun to do and the teaching is great. This was well worth the money.

I already knew the bluff pass from Aaron Fisher's works, but the revolve control takes this pass to the next level, since it combines showing the selected card with the actual bluff moment. The other controls thaught here are great as well, especially if you perform at a table ore need to control a selected card to the bottom of the deck, but I rarely use them compared to the revolving pass.
As a bonus, the D'hotel change is included as well, which blends in nice with the revolve control, if you need a color change that can immediately follow the control.

This is a great download! Informative, understandable, fresh material…at least for me. I enjoyed learning the Bluff Shift and look forward to practicing it until I get it correct and smooth. I purchase many downloads from Vanishing Inc. I really enjoy learning more about card sleights this way.

This was one of my first vanishing inc downloads. The material on the download is amazing. It really helped in my card magic. I really do use everything. I love the revolver shift. Josh is just a amazing teacher and getting this is really worth it. This will take time but Josh teaches everything you need to start doing the moves.The spread control is really a cool move and the table bluff spread, you will fool yourself in the mirror. The color change at the end is so cool. It will take practice but you will get a lot out of this download. Also there is some great Erdanse break stuff one hear again pick this one up.

The bluff shifts are quiet useful. There were definitely technical problems in the old version of this move. Joshua Jay has resolved the problems with his great thinking, and his hard work, a wonderful magician and a wonderful man. I think that he resolved them also because of his hard work on it and brilliant thinking. A wonderful piece to study, thank you Joshua Jay for your contributions, you have really made this move better and improved it and refined it so much, thank you.

Josh's defeats the bluff pass's weakness, which I won't disclose but if you have handled cards in any fashion, you've come across this.

The technique is natural, motivated and deceiving!

I love all of these moves and they are so well thought out and useable. As a novice I still found these moves are not too difficult to perform. Thanks for the erdanaise(spelling) break its a ripper.

Very well explained and I am even suprised that the colour change is so much easier to do that what you would think given the clear explaination and goes very well with the revolve pass.

OK. This isn't going to be a long review as the one below, and wish I could write more. But do I need too. I watched the online clip today and though £6.22, to learn a sleight of hand. Is this worth it? What can I say?

Buy it NOW! I watch the explanation for first sleight and man Josh's bluff sleight is amazing and still have 5 more to watch. Yes lots of practice, but for £10, you have years of use on one sleight. Love it. Thanks so much.

Thoughts: Excellent! Im a fan of Joshua's work especially on The Bluff Shift included in his column, Talk About Tricks dvd's ect. Now i was fooled still by a few of these and i knew what was going on!!. The colour change is amazing and its not to hard either! it's knacky but hey all the knacky things seem to be worth it so far. I think this is very very much worth the 10 bucks. Now lets go a little bit more indepth.

Teaching: The teaching is great. Josh is very easy to follow and seems to be enjoying himself which is fun. He properly references people and teaches the moves from multiple angles and step by step easily followed.
So a great job in my opinion here.

Josh is articulate and clear as always - a great teacher. Video is about applications for the bluff shift and provides several useful handlings. Knowledge of how to do the bluff shift on the part of the viewer is assumed. No history or references on nuances and how to do the shift, which isn't difficult of course, but would be helpful. Great tip on Erdnase break and how to get into it. One camera perspective (iPhone?) and hands/cards go out of frame a couple of times. Adequate lighting, but could have been brighter. Lo res images, either due to technology of the time it was created or to make for faster streaming/downloading.

I enjoyed this short video and was able to learn from it. I would expect that the slights described are acheivable by the average magician and will make a nice addition to your set of controls. The bonus color change is also nice (though that will take me a little more work). I usually learn by reading books so this was a different learning experience for me. I wish there was a little more description of finger positions, but careful observation and replaying along with a little experimentation cleared things up.
