Magic download (video) by Juan Luis Rubiales (6.50 - normally $13.00)

One technique, endless potential.

“Air Switch” is an exciting new way to switch playing cards brought to you by Juan Luis Rubiales (creator of the bestseller “Bounce”). This innovative technique uses pure sleight of hand to make a card change in mid-air. From transpositions to predictions, teleportations, and more, it unlocks so much amazing card magic potential.

In this download, you’ll learn the mechanics of the move as well as multiple routines to get you started:

  • Impossible open prediction in a glass
  • Signed card to box
  • Signed card through table
  • Two signed card transpo

This is just the start of what is possible. Those who love learning new sleight of hand moves will really enjoy “Air Switch” by Juan Luis Rubiales. It will take a little practice, but isn’t overly difficult. Once you get a hang of it, you’ll love performing it.

Quite knacky and doesn’t in my opinion give enough detail on the actual move

I really like the organization of the video where you see the performance and then get into the explanation. The tips section is also great. What would really be nice is to have a time stamp for each segment. That should be a requirement for all of the Vanishing Videos.

Lastly and unfortunately disappointing is that all the moves require the TPC slight. Many others have said the same. Spending very little time explaining this in the video leaves you to have to figure it out in some other source. More time is needed to show this critical move as you can't do the tricks without it. I can't find a YouTube video to do it justice. If you know of one, please post it!

Great utility move clearly explained and with a host of interesting applications. I liked seeing all of the different tricks before the explanation, as it allowed me to pick up on some of the key gestures and elements, but ultimately the instruction shows many different ways to apply this interesting technique. The plots that are included are pretty classic ones, but this move allows new possibilities and left me feeling inspired to try to put together some different phases or applications for this move going forward. The move itself has some inherent limitations, as it is a pretty big gesture at the critical moment. Darwin Ortiz's Constructing Magic talks about the choice of move and the choice of moment, comparing dealing a half dozen seconds to a single bottom deal, arguing that doing the seconds to get to the consequential card and then being able to NOT do a move in that moment is worth it, rather than only doing a single bottom deal, but having to do it at the critical moment when the final card is being dealt. There is a bit of that problem here, as the "move" happens at a key time in some of these routines, but there are also a couple of applications that don't emphasize the visual nature as much and could be applied in a range of contexts.

I think the Juan Luis Rubiales could have explained the control technique much better. He essentially demonstrated it without much explanation. However, other than that, he created a very clever technique and developed it into a variety of interesting tricks. The transposition didn't do much for me, but I really liked the rest of the tricks he created using his technique.

The sleight is great and has a lot of applications (as the various tricks demonstrate). It will take a little work to get it smooth, but will be worth it. The only thing, as one reviewer mentioned, is that the first part of the move is not well taught. So you might need to watch it frame by frame or even find another resource to help with that.

I don't like the primary move. To me it seems pretty fishy. However, Juan Luis Rubialis is a genius and there's a lot of other great stuff on the download. I particularly liked his method of lapping and his method of switching a card in the process of turning it over.

The key element of Air Switch and the foundation of all these tricks is TPC (Tamariz Perpendicular Control) which in not taught at all on the video. Maybe it's so common in Spanish speaking magic circles that mister Rubiales sees no reason to explain it to us. If you do not know it already and you are interested, you can find and learn it in Juan Tamariz book Sonata.

It is a great move that I think may be super visual when you get the handling down, and are able to present it in a fun way. The only thing that bums me out is that you need to learn something that isn’t taught in great detail here leaving me looking for deeper instruction. Overall I think it’s so visually baffling, I just wish it was taught completely to understand everything
