This easy-to-use prop allows you to easily perform an inexplicable series of magical changes and impossible predictions.
"Anakarakuri" is Tenyo Magic's take on the traditional concept of "Karakuri Byobu" or "Obi Karakuri" (or what is often referred to in English as a "flexagon"). These fascinating mechanisms allow you to make pictures appear and transform in extraordinary ways. "Anakarakuri" takes that idea and evolves it into a remarkable multi-phase prediction effect you'll absolutely love performing.
A small packet of cards is shuffled and dealt into two piles. Your participant can tell you to stop wherever they'd like. The top two cards are turned over. These cards (the Eight of Hearts and Queen of Hearts) are not shown to you. They become the selections for the original person and another participant.
You then bring out a colorful paper adorned with red and white squares, as well as heart-shaped holes. The paper is displayed on both sides before being given a fold that reveals two hearts. You confidently proclaim that their card must be the Two of Hearts (it's not). Confused, you give it another fold and as if they chose the Four of Hearts (they didn't).
Things seem to be going wrong. But you kindly ask for one more chance to make things right. Before you do though, you ask them to tell you their card. They respond it's the Eight of Hearts and you immediately snap open the paper to reveal an Eight of Hearts.
Just as quickly as it appears, the Eight disappears. You then turn to the second participant and ask their card. As they respond its the Queen of Hearts, the paper is opened again to reveal a Queen of Hearts.
Before they even have a chance to fully process this miracle, the paper is once again opened and shown on both sides. The Queen of Hearts has now vanished and the paper is back to exactly the way it was when you first started.
