The routine starts by offering to expose how the classic three-card monte scam works. The secret to always winning the game relies on an extra fourth card that is hidden somewhere (like up your sleeve).
Three black Eights and a red Queen are introduced. You place one of the black Eights off to the side or even let a participant hold it in their hands (this acts as the “sleeve”). The remaining two black cards and the red Queen are slowly and carefully mixed face-down right under their watchful eyes. No matter how hard they try, they seemingly can’t win. The card they think is the Queen always ends up being one of the Eights.
That’s when you reveal another secret. The Queen can actually transform into an Eight and even become a double-sided card on your command. This eye-popping sequence of visual moments is a true highlight of this incredible routine.
For the next phase, the Queen then jumps from the middle of the pack to the bottom before vanishing entirely. The cards are then clearly shown to be all Eights.
Finally, as a shocking finale, you have your volunteer open their hands (or turn over the card on the table) to discover it is now the Queen.
