Memorandum Memorandum Memorandum Memorandum Memorandum

"The best memorized deck ever!" Hector Mancha

"Woody Aragón's effects are fun, fantasy-filled, and fooling - that's a perfect combination for magical entertainment." Simon Aronson

"The maximum magical impact, the maximum sense of impossibility!" Juan Tamariz

"Marvelous compositions that create extraordinary magic" Max Maven

Vanishing Inc. Magic has a VERY dedicated group of customers who are interested in memorized deck work. They are celebrating the arrival of Memorandum, the new, important, and highly-anticipated book by Woody Aragón. Woody is one of our most important modern card magic creators. His first book, A Book in English, was a bestseller that influenced top magicians. Penn and Teller do one of Woody's tricks in their Vegas show! The reason? Woody's magic is strong, it's clever, it fools ... and audiences love it!

In his new book, Memorandum, Woody reveals his revolutionary work on the memorized deck. He teaches his own ground-breaking stack and a whole array of tricks that work with any memorized stack (fifty tricks in total).

First, what is the Memorandum stack? It's a memorized deck that contains all the properties of Tamariz's Mnemonica as well as many of the features in Aronson's stack, plus many new concepts that are found nowhere else. The Memorandum stack is full of interesting approaches, such as:

  • Built-in poker revelations and routines
  • Self-contained setups for many tricks (including Matching the Cards, Magician Vs. Gambler, Ten-Card Poker Deal, a Hold' Em routine, and more)
  • Some clever forces of certain values
  • Some interesting fishing stacks that allow you to reveal thought-of cards
  • Some amazing spelling routines
  • Easy access to the most frequently named cards
  • A built-in Stay-Stack section
  • And much more.

The Memorandum stack is easy to get into from Bicycle new deck order and you can easily get into Stay Stack and even back to new deck order! And, here's the crazy thing: you can go in and out of Juan Tamariz's Mnemonica with Woody's stack! (There's a sleight caveat that you need to consider, but it's the kind of thing that you can do automatically in your head without even thinking about it in performance.)

Woody also shares his technique to memorize the deck, which is just as interesting and wacky as you may expect! And he goes into the history of the stack sharing some brand new historical findings of the true modern history of memdeck work.

It's rare that a professional of Woody's calibre shares his entire arsenal of memdeck work and Memorandum is exactly that. We were privy to a pre-release copy and can't recommend his work enough! Watch our exclusive interview with Woody to hear all about the stack in full detail.

We realize that not everyone will memorize this stack, and that many customers have already committed a stack to memory. But books like this only come a couple times per decade, and this is a chance to study how one brilliant mind has constructed his stack, and what he does with it. EVERYONE can learn a great deal from "Memorandum."

Customer reviews for Memorandum

Garry

A very enjoyable book with plenty of B&W illustrations, even mentions on how to do a breather crimp, as you can do some great magic with this method. I also like the layout, and the way the book builds you up as you go along, with lots of reinforcement off ideas on how to go about learning the stack, with some good humor thrown in. The format of this book has made it very easy to follow and easy to understand the methods used, and there are plenty off routines in this book. The book starts with half memorised stack routines, then goes into full stack routines, which includes severall options with these routines, this is all explained as to why use the half stack method first, (very clever) also explained is after a routine, how to get back into stack order without this being obvious, stelf, I am plesantly suprised so far, as to how easy and how enjoyable it is to learn these routines, plus time out to learn the stack, which is all great fun. This is a Great Hard Back Book, Hard Back is in B&W, with a Colourful Gloss Removable Sleeve, This Is a great Book, with Lots of great Routines.

  • James asks: The ad copy says this book contains fifty tricks in total. It also says there are a number of effects that can be done with any stack. I have seen this claim made before, and I have always been disappointed when I receive the book. I use the Joyal stack. How many effects are set forth in this book that can actually be done with the Joyal stack?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: While there is a mix, I'd say this book is best if you plan to use Woody's stack.
  • Rick asks: Is the entire stack, every card given a story for you to remember the location or is it just some cards are given stories as examples ?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: This book contains the stack and tricks to use with it. There is not much mentioned on memorizing the actual stack.
