"Ultimate MacDonald" is Jean-Pierre Vallarino's brilliant re-imagining of an all-time classic of magic. You'll learn the original "MacDonald's Aces" routine before diving into the JPV's modernized version that has been reinvented to guarantee maximum impact and even leaves you with examinable cards.

The Original Classic

Discover the classic of magic that has fascinated audiences for decades. "MacDonald's Aces" is one of the most beloved gaffed Ace Assembly routines ever created. Four Aces are placed face up on the table before being covered by three face-down cards. One by one, the Aces vanish from their piles and reappear in the fourth pile held by your participant. The fact it offers multiple visual moments, and concludes with magic that happens in their hands, is why "MacDonald's Aces" has stood the test of time. JPV teaches you this original routine to ensure you understand the core principles before moving on to his version.

The Reimagined Modern Gem

Building on the core concepts taught to you in the original, JPV adds his own personalized touches and subtleties. The strength of this elegant new routine comes from how the presentation has been completely restructured fro maximum surprise and wonder. It holds true to its core roots, while also offering an exciting new approach for modern magicians.

Since the backs and faces of the cards are visible throughout the routine, each transformation is significantly more impactful. Each of these beautifully choreographed magical moments also happens in its own unique way to ensure the audience remains intrigued throughout the routine. And the best part? This version has been constructed in a way that allows you to leave the cards out for examination.

No difficult sleight of hand is required to perform "Ultimate MacDonald". This highly-accessible new version can be learned by anyone with a basic understanding of card magic.

Comes with instructional video and special Bicycle cards.

Richard

I've been a fan of MacDonald's Aces since seeing Ricky Jay do the Ernase (?) Queens version on a Doug Henning special (https://youtu.be/OsOiHJEU2E8?si=Dwf1JelOZTFE8BDv) a million years ago. Though I love the trick because of the cleanliness of the handling, the plot is weakened as the ace (or queen) doesn’t vanish, but is, rather illogically, transformed into an indifferent card before appearing with its three mates on the "leader" card. In Vallarino's handling, each ace VANISHES cleanly (in one case using an included gimmick that makes the vanish particularly convincing) before its ultimate reappearance on that leader ace — a major improvement, to my mind. This is not at some cost, of course. There’s a bit of “arts and crafts” to be performed and the additional product needed is suggested only generically when some specificity would have been appreciated. Another objection is that the explanatory video, in itself completely serviceable (particularly in the French version), is not downloadable.
But those objections are nits. This will be the version that I will be performing. It’s great!

  • Philip asks: Do you need a close up mat to do the routine?

    • 1. Brian answers: You don't have to use one but it makes it easier and better and looks a bit more professional when using a mat/pad

  • James asks: How is this different from Marcel Aces, I wonder? The performance looks nearly move for move. I do not wish to buy something that technically I already own.

    • 1. Jens Martin answers: The differences are small.
