Babu - magic
Babu Babu Babu Babu

A borrowed ring (or other small object) vanishes and re-appears impossibly inside multiple leather pouches nested within each other.

"That's magical, beauty, get that" David Copperfield

"Very nice method!" Teller

"Babu" was a total sellout at Magic LIVE! A super deceptive method has been built into these gorgeous, handcrafted leather pouches, allowing you to easily have a small object appear inside a leather pouch, which is in a pouch that is inside another pouch. You can even add in a sealed envelope element too!

"Oh sh*t, you fooled me man. That's awesome" Dan Sperry

"That's a brilliant method. I know just how I am going to use this!" Dan Harlan

Comes with three leather pouches, a silk vanishing handkerchief that facilitates the very open and clean vanish, as well as some self-sealing envelopes.

Got this in the mail today , I used Einhorn’s nest of wallets for many years so will compare it to his, here is my honest review.
The loading on this nest of wallets it’s easier due to the orientation of the wallets and the material , it seats better in my trousers pocket , denim jacket or blazer.

A ring or coin does slide better on this version.
As the wallets come out, the snap button is really snap shut and adds to this effect.
Although many people won’t use the bonsolope finale if they are doing table hoping , I am a casual performer and will perform this effect only once at a venue such as at the bar or at a coffee shop, for me the bonsolope type envelope finale is more powerful and takes heat away from the wallets.

This wallets are not 100% examinable unlike Einhorn’s were a participant can examine everything , but to be honest in all my years performing Einhorn’s version no one has ever done that , audience management is important regardless if your props can or can’t be inspected.

The chances that they will find anything on the wallets are the same as giving a participant a marked deck to shuffle . They are very well made and the secret is very well hidden by the incredible work they did on the stitching.
The silk provided to vanish the ring is very well made and very ingenious in construction, just wished it was smaller to be used as a pocket square for my blazer, this size I find better for a parlor performance rather than close up.
I am impressed by the leather quality on this product.
This WILL replace my Einhorn’s nest of wallets.
This is all in my opinion of course and hope it helps any of my fellow magicians to make an educated purchase.

  • Andy asks: What’s different in this and nest of wallets ?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: The load and the poppers on the internal wallets.
  • William asks: How is this any different than Nick Einhorn's "Nest of Wallets", aside from "Babu" being more expensive for the same effect?

    • 1. Ross answers: There are snap buttons on this version. I’m fairly sure that’s the difference.
    • 2. Brandon answers: I own Nick Einhorn's version. Besides the snaps, you cannot open his in the same direction as seen in the demo with these. I can't tell for sure but the outer wallet actually appears to be a little bigger than Nick's version.
    • 3. Gary answers: From the description the load method is different from Einhorn's. The statement about adding self sealing envelopes gives a clue. Einhorn's (I own) is examinable at the end - I doubt that is product is examinable at the end but the load is probably easier and cleaner.

  • Simon asks: What is/isn't examinable of the wallets/silks etc?

    • 1. Paul answers: I personally wouldn't let anyone examine it but also I don't let many people examine my props anyway. If you perform things correctly, people won't suspect anything. This is very clean and I like this version better than Einhorn however with Einhorns version everything is 100% examinable. I do prefer the vanish method for Babu personally and I also love good quality leather props!

  • Brandon asks: How many of the envelopes do you receive? Are there refills available for them? I used to use the Prop Dog ones with Nick's Einhorn's Nest of Wallets but they aren't producing them currently. Would the alternative cloth final load used in Nick's version be compatible with this loading method if you ran out of envelopes?

    • 1. Ben answers: I'd also like to know if the Nest of Wallets cloth can be used with this...
    • 2. Paul answers: You only get about 3 or 4 envelopes however they are not compulsory or needed in the effect. It's only if you choose to use them. I personally don't use them.

  • Terry asks: Is it possible to see one continuous video without the ad bars and cuts?

    • 1. Joseph answers: No. Why would you want to see what you are purchasing before you purchase it?
    • 2. Joseph answers: Joseph, I'm guessing your tongue was firmly planted in your cheek when you wrote this, or you didn't proofread closely enough to make your intended point.

  • Ben asks: Can Babu be given to a volunteer to hold, with the item loaded? Or would they quickly identify the secret/ the loaded item is at risk of falling out?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: They can hold it flat on their palm while loaded. But I wouldn't recommend them examine it while it's loaded.
