As is the case with seemingly everything he creates, “Die-abolical Bet” by Nicholas Lawrence is the type of effect that needs to be seen to be believed. Using just a few seemingly ordinary objects, it will leave your audience’s jaws on the floor.
A shot glass and translucent die are handed out for examination. You then remove a pair of playing cards from a deck and stack one on the glass. The die is placed on top of this card and the second card is then placed on top of everything, sandwiching the die between the cards.
Pressing down on this little stack, you are able to impossibly make the die pass through the card into the glass. It’s a stunning moment of visual magic.
Your audience will, of course, want to see this again. And, here’s the best part, you can repeat it for them!
This intriguing tower is created again. And, this time, your spectator is invited to press down. Again, the die penetrates the card. You can then hand out the glass, die, and cards for examination.

Bonus Kicker Ending
You’ll also learn a special kicker ending that allows you to apparently show the hole that the die passes through. However, your spectators won’t believe their eyes when you show that the hole is actually just a black sticker. The card is completely solid.
