An authentic piece of storytelling magic with a strange and unforgettable coincidence.
Brought to you by Wayne Dobson and Alan Wong, "Houdini's Niece" offers an intriguing new look into the life of magic's most famous magician: Harry Houdini.
While Houdini and his wife Bess did not have any children of their own, Houdini was very close with his niece. Oddly enough, his niece didn't have a name registered on her birth certificate. So, using his interest in Numerology, Houdini helped pick a name for her in a rather peculiar way.
He had a book of 100 popular girls names of that time. He took his grandmothers birth year, added together the two digits and then subtracted the total from his original number. That number determined the page in the book where he'd eventually find his niece's name.
With "Houdini's Niece", the audience is asked to conduct the same numerology ritual by guessing Houdini's grandmothers birth year to get a random number. The spectator themselves then looks through a book of names to find a name on that page.
You then produce a pendant containing a real photo of Houdini's niece and her name (Marie)—the same name they chose from the book. A stunning prediction that is great for both a close-up or table-hopping magic performances, as well as virtual magic shows.
"Houdini's Niece" is based on his real niece (Marie Blood). This special set comes with everything you need to perform, including an examinable "antique" book of names and a chained brass locket with Houdini's photo that opens up to reveal both the name and a photo of Houdini's niece. You'll also receive Wayne Dobson's full presentation script.
