Opus - magic
Opus Opus Opus Opus Opus Opus

Beyond being one of the most strikingly visual and beautiful coin-to-ring transformations we’ve ever seen, Garrett Thomas’ Opus offers you an exclusive peek into the mind of a sleight of hand master and the psychology behind developing and integrating new ideas.

Instead of just simply learning the basic moves for Opus, you’ll follow Garrett on a journey through the complete evolution of this powerful effect. Along the way, you’ll learn the reasoning behind each decision and uncover ways you can improve your own magic. Prepare for your creativity to be ignited as your mind is flooded with new ideas.

And this is just the beginning…

Opus will be regularly updated by Garrett Thomas and you will always have immediate access to his new ideas as they become available.

Opus is more than just a magic trick. It’s a rare opportunity for magicians of all ages to discover how to create powerful and memorable effects that truly move the art of magic forward.

"There are a lot of places to learn how tricks work. Opus is a rare opportunity to learn WHY magic works.” - Brent Braun

"There are only a few routines where the elegant efficiency of the technique is as beautiful as the visual impossibility of the effect. This is one of them. Each move teaches a key concept in making sleights appear effortless for spectators; study this effect and you will learn a lifetime's worth of lessons in just a few moments of magic." -Kanioa Harbottle

"Garrett has always been miles ahead of everyone with finger ring, and ring and coin magic, and everything he's discovered is in Opus. But it's not a coin trick. And it's not just a ring trick. It's a solid metal that flows around your fingers like a living thing trick." -Curtis Kam

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is suggested that you purchase a ring that is slightly larger than the size you would normally wear.

Customer reviews for Opus

Oh this good. The tutorial is fantastic and the sleight of hand is extremely well designed and choreographed. This is not for the weak and will require copuous of practice. The one thing I find a bit troublesome is the that edges of the coin is super slippery. Garrett explains why the edges are not milled, but I would not mind that compromise. That said this great! Love it!

Absolutely love it. The ring is excellent for manipulation and the “instruction” is clear and interesting. I added the “” because it’s not JUST instructions on handling. It’s it’s a 1hr 40min lecture on handling, history, and theory. Well worth the money

Opus, comes with a great presentation box, which comes with a front closing magnetic lid.
The video play is an hour and forty minutes off play time.
I recommend that you watch this video to the very end, as the beginning consists of what the set consists of, followed by front and over head demonstration view in how too use the opus set,
This is followed by the journey/history off opus, demonstrating variouse.palming positions, including indepth explanations, which then arrives to the present part of this journey, followed by more indepth variations on how to use opus.
A great journey on how to use the opus set

  • Lee asks: How do you measure your finger for the ring? How hard are the sleights in this ? IOW how hard is this to learn for a beginner?

    • 1. Garry answers: To get an accurate ring size measurement, is, most jeweller's will be able to do this for you, and this should be a free service. How easy is it to use opus, I am about a year old doing magic, but after a bit of practice using opus, you will get a good natural feel for this, i suggest if you get opus, is, to watch the video to the very end, this will give a complete understanding on the methods used. I hope this helps.

  • Joshua asks: I’ve been putting off buying opus because the size 24mm is out of stock,I wear a size 14 ring one ring finger and a 13 on the other. It says to go up from the size yo wear how much bigger did anyone go for theirs ? Also which finger did you use for your measurement ? I really want to order one but I want to ge the right size and not go thought swapping them out Thanks

    • 1. SGKYDUYEN answers: Please email to magic@vanishingincmagic.com and they will be happy to help
    • 2. Garry answers: I purchased the ring size 25, and I have big hands and this ring size fits on all my fingers, it needs to be a bit loose so you can remove and replace the ring from your finger without any restrictions, the finger he uses for opus is the finger nearest to his thumb, Jewellery shops provide a free service for taking measurements for ring sizes. I hope this helps.

  • Billy asks: Does this cover his Ring Thing?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, but not in detail. We would recommend the "Ring Thing" DVD for that.
    • 2. Garry answers: Which finger do you use is: if you are right handed, then use your right hand, and youre first finger, which is the finger nearest to your thumb. If you watch the add video you will be able to see which finger he uses, which is the same as finger i have explained Ring size, i went up one size, and it works perfect, as the ring is a bigger size, therefore easier to do the slights, that you need to do to make the trick work. Hope this helps.
  • TJ asks: Does Opus also serve as a PK ring?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No.
  • Jordan asks: So I assume this comes with a ring and coin, but does it come with a dvd or digital download?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Download
  • Cole asks: Is the ring included in Opus the same ring provided in the Banded kit also produced by Mr. Thomas?

    • 1. Jim answers: They look the same.

  • Paul asks: What is exactly included in the package? I saw, in the trailer, a silver dollar, a plain coin (disc), then a full opus coin, then opus coin with a whole (karate coin), a ring finger, and anything else that might have been omitted in the trailer. In other words, could you please list or send pictures of each item that I will cost me $99.95? Thank you.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: In the box you receive a skewer coin, a coin, and a ring. They are all made with the same metal, and they match the Banded ring set. They also all attract to a magnet. The download instruction is very well taught and lasts for approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.
  • Joshua asks: Is this a magnetic ring? Above someone asked if it is a pk ring, and they said no but above someone answered that the ring is magnetic. So it is a pk ring?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It is not a magnetic ring, but it will be attracted to a magnet.
  • Moises asks: the size ...20,21,22,23 mm is this the outer diameter of the ring or the inner diameter?

    • 1. David answers: this is of course the inside diameter also called nominal diameter

  • Wesley asks: I'm mainly a card man. I have Innocent, the Ring Thing, and I can get a copy of Bobo's. Will that be enough, or are there other resources (prerequisites?) that I should have before this?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: This project goes over everything you need to know! You'll be set.
  • Michael asks: As a magician who has a smaller ring size (Size 6.5, which is about 17mm), can I get this ring modified to fit me or will it harm the product?

    • 1. Jim answers: It would depend on how skilled the jeweler is. It you can find someone great, the ring should be able to be resized.
