Of course we already recognize this as an updated version of the well-known effect, “Hot Rod.” Who among us did not own the little crystal stick with the multicolored gems? Put your hand down—you know you had one, and probably still do. For many of us, “Hot Rod” was our first foray into mentalism and sleight-of-hand. Not only did we have to learn the two actions involved in executing the Paddle Move, we also had to learn a psychological force and how to ditch the prop quickly before anyone wanted to handle it. That was a lot for an eight-year-old. While outwardly a great trick, many have dismissed it as child’s play. The classic prop itself looks like a toy. Mr. Prace has changed all that. While you still have to master that pesky Paddle Move, the prop is now organic. For all intents and purposes, it resembles an ordinary Bic pen that everyone is familiar with. Another step toward modernization is the use of the “Coogle” logo that, at a quick glance will pass for “Google.” (Obviously “Google” is a trademark that could not be used.) All of the logos are permanently printed on the sides of the pens. There is obviously no reset. This can be carried in your pocket and is perfect for all close-up situations whether formal or walk around.
