The Gift - magic
The Gift The Gift The Gift The Gift The Gift The Gift

Angelo Carbone is one of our industry's most clever inventors. With us, he has built the sort of credibility to pay close attention to ANYTHING with his name on it. "The Gift" might be his most wildly original idea yet! We are so, so, so impressed the engineering marvel that is ...The Gift.

What you receive is a box that gives you multiple outs. The box is examinable, doesn't require anything to be added in or taken away, and it's entirely self-contained. Yet, despite these wonderful constraints, you are able to control which outcome you reveal on a piece of paper. You can reveal up to four outs, while the others remained locked away, concealed from audience view.

The possibilities with "The Gift" are limited only by your imagination. We prefer the non-card effects supplied and suggested, but card tricks like the one in the trailer are hard to top.

The box you receive is attractive yet unassuming, and the quality of the materials will serve you well in your shows for a lifetime. The limited-edition yellow is lovely, but we also love the black color. This is a performance piece equally at home in a close-up magic show or a parlor show of mentalism. The great news is that it's really easy to do too. It is, truly, a gift!

Angelo fooled me with his original version, and the finished product is just wonderful. It's a beautiful trick and a very versatile prop with all the trademark elegance we'd expect from one of close-up magic's finest living inventors.Derren Brown

"Angelo Carbone has done it again - he's taken something that looks 100% innocent and made it 100% devious." David Regal
"I was fooled badly! There is nothing in magic like this. Angelo is a genius and this release is something that you will love performing!" Luca Volpe

This is a great trick! I performed this for the first time the day I received it (therefore I can truly say the video instruction is clear and easy to understand and the trick requires only minimal practice for a basic presentation), and it happened to be a single-trick "performance" at a dinner party for my Dad's birthday. "The Gift" was thematic in that way, even though the trick has not much to do with an actual present. I altered the presentation from what the video showed, but there are a couple of GREAT routines included in the video tutorial. I have decided I will also incorporate a version of "The Gift" that merges it with Craig Petty's "Easy Tones," also available from Vanishing Inc Magic. Magicians who have both of those tricks can probably figure out the routine I envision with those combined. "The Gift" is ideal for parlor-sized performance, or close-up (but not necessarily walk-around). Highly recommended purchase, and Vanishing Inc is definitely the vendor of preferred choice, 'cause they're awesome.

This is the top trick I have in my collection. It is made extremely well and operates really smoothly.
I am very happy with it and can't wait to start performing with it.

One of my favorite tricks. The thinking and execution behind this is perfect. Could not be happier! I've adapted the routine to use photos of different places and when the spectator picks on, that place is written on a paper in the box.

The effect is very good and I would think nobody would have any idea how it works. The box is totally seen as empty, lid paced on the box and then spectators card is freely selected. Then inexplicably the lid is taken off the box to reveal a piece of paper showing the spectators chosen card! It really is very clever.

I love this trick and use it as often as possible. It is even more powerful than what this video shows. I have never had anyone even close to figuring out how it’s done, including individuals who have been around magicians for over 40 years and know their secrets. It is simple and very deceptive. This is one of my favorite no skill tricks. Anyone can do it.

Absolutely brilliant. Very creative. Easy to routine. I made one small adjustment that made it work even better. Well made and very deceptive. Will last many performances if you take care of it.

Love it and super easy to do. It has a high impact that is unlike most effects. I feel there is an area of magic that sits in the holy grail area. These are effects that can be done without the magician visibly doing anything or interacting with the prop. With one version of this effect all you do is hand the box to the participant. That is all. AND IT WORKS!!! Like, let me break it down a little bit here.
You have a participant take a deck and deal cards down until they wish to stop. They memorize the card they stop at. YOU hand them the box.
The box BTW has been sitting there the entire time. Not touched AT ALL!. And with your hands open, you pick the box up. and hand it to the participant. THAT IS IT! they open the box, they open the prediction, and you just melted their brains!

Buttttt! why the 4 stars? Well, I am glad you asked to disembody the voice in my head. And that is because this device has some flaws. I know I know. Why can't it just be perfect!!! Booooooo! I'm going back to my center tears!.
Now hold on, it's ok. There are fixes. =).
So. Its shortcomings.
1. It's a big butt box for just a small folded paper. But the audience won't notice. Plus one version taught justifies this by having the deck in the box and telling the participant that there are 2 things in the box. One, I'll show you now. The other I'll show you later.
2. Activating the effect can be a bit awkward. Soooooo my recommendation is to take the activation thingy, FIgure out how it works!!!! and place it in different places so you can do it easier. (THis is the only way I can explain it without giving methods away.... so yeah)
3. The card selecting process is a bit BLEH! to say the least. There is a chance the participant can catch on. I never treat my audience like their idiots. Neither should you. This part if it goes wrong will fly by not many people. And it's an issue too great to ignore. Sooooooo here's my remedy. Make the important half with a dot. I have a red one. So I used a red sharpie to cover the corner white border on the left side or each corner I also colored in the center of the flower on the left side as well. Now I'm talking when you hodl a card, you are coloring in the top left corner in those 2 locations. Then rotate the card 180 degrees and do it again. This way you can know if a card is safe or not. All I can say there.

So who is this effect for? Easy. This is the kind of effect with little actual work behind it, but also a fair amount going on as well. But its easy to do it kind of mindlessly. So you can focus on the presentation. This effect is for anyone who needs a hard-hitting coaster effect. An effect you can kind of relax on.

It's a great idea but too unreliable. My copy only worked about 20% of the time so I never performed it.
