Live lecture by Eric Stevens (7.95)

Eric Stevens has been mastering his art for nearly two decades. He brings his dry wit and smooth magic to his At The Table lecture. With a wide range of effects-from coins to cards and even a little bit of theory sprinkled in-there is something here for everyone. Eric is also very well known for his version of the classic Hot Rod, and if you've got a gimmick collecting dust, this lecture will make you revisit this staple of magic. Come experience this red-hot lecture, right here, At The Table.

The One-Armed Man: The audience is taught a little something about the classic 3-Card Monte and how to avoid being swindled - all the while being taken for a ride until the surprise ending.

Lazy Bones: Eric's take on the classic Coins Across routine.

Hang 'em High: An interactive coin routine that can be paired with Lazy Bones or done as a separate routine.

Split-Second Marvel: A freely-chosen time on the stopwatch of a spectator's phone allows for the selection of a card that perfectly matches a previously reversed card in a second deck - one that has been set aside since the beginning.

Hot Rod: One of the best Hot Rod routines you will see.

Happenstance: The power of coincidence is explored. The magician not only divines the identity of a freely selected card, but influences the participant to name the card's exact position in a shuffled deck.

Factory Production: A great production of all four Kings.

A Very Dynamic Sandwich: Take any four of a kind and make one of the cards appear inside the Joker sandwich. Takes place in the spectator's hands.

Somewhere Out There: The magician is able to predict several spectators' randomly chosen numbers.

Tribloon: Three Chinese coins are produced in a very magical way, and one suddenly transforms into a half dollar; finishing with a clean vanish of each coin.

Mercury Catch: The spectator selects a card, and the magician is able to snatch the card out of midair as the cards are dribbled to the table.

"Eric Stevens has all the qualities of a new star of magic. Pay attention to his talents; he is going places!" Jeff McBride
"Eric Stevens has an eye for the details in his magic. He gets me thinking about the way I perform myself and... take my magic to the next level... Eric is a true gent and always a pleasure to watch!" Tom Elderfield

Note: The lecture will be aired on Jan 21th

Customer reviews for Eric Stevens Live Lecture

First let me keep it very short for those who like short reviews best:

This lecture ist just awesome. You can read the set list above. There is content for everyone. What I really like about Eric, he teaches really good hard hitting, brain melting magic that#s easy to do and he teaches it so you can understand it also very easy.

Go and get this lecture. I'll promise you will end up putting more than one routine to your repertoire.

Now some deep dive review: :D

The One-armed man
is a super cool 3 Card Monte variation that is killing it. I instantly took it into my repertoire with my own little tweaks and I call my version The One-armed Scotty (beam me up) :D This is so visual and still easy to do. Perfect for beginners like me to melt some brains but also a valuable piece for all the pros.

Lazy Bones and Hang 'em high
is wonderful combination of 2 coin routines that you also could do separately but in combination it blows minds. Even for guys like me that are not coin magic junks it is cool, visual and practical. Of course you have to practice it as it is not self-working :D

Split second-Marvel. Is a nice and fun routine, that's so easy to do, that you might put it in your routine instantly. It involves 2 decks and a stopwatch. Most of you pros might have done some similar routine already but you definitely should check this one out because it is so much fun to do.

Hot Rod
if you know Eric all ready you know he is the Hot Rod Master.
He teaches you some very helpful moves to make your Hot Rod work so much better. He took this "Hey kid let me show you a trick" thing to a powerful piece of magic routine with a beginning, a middle routine with an ending. You think your paddle move is good? Maybe you think otherwise after you have watched this lecture and get back to practice in front of a mirror or camera :D

Happenstance
is another great card routine you most likely like to do. He shows/teaches you a sweet way of using a well know gimmick deck you have in your magic drawer but you most like use it any more. This routine might change that for good :D

Factory Production
is what the list above says. I'll give you a spoiler: this is what Lance Burton sayid about it years ago: "I's fantastic. I have no notes."

A very dynamic sandwich
is the follow up on factory production. As a combo this is a very powerful piece of card magic. You should check it out.

Somewhere out there
is Eric's contribution to mentalism. It is impromptu and easy to do but it is not a 100% on point every time. But if you hit 3 predicted numbers it is killing laymen for sure.

Tribloon
is another very cool coin magic. This might be my favourite even it involves a gimmick. It is a 3 coin production and vanish with a twist.
To be honest it reminds me of Triad Coins by Joshua Jay but this is, at the same time, very different. I like it a lot and will practice it ( but with the triad coin gimmick ( as long as I don't own the Tribloon gimmick))

Mercury Catch
is a powerful card routine and it is a MAGICIAN FOOLER (until you know the secret :) I like it a lot and you will like it too as beginner also as a pro.

So that is my 2cents or let's call it review.

Some final thoughts.

I am a subscriber of the at-the-table lecture series and this is one of my top 3 favourite lectures so far. One other I like to mention is the lecture of Myles Thornton. Why you might ask. I tell you why. It is for the reason that both this lectures have so cool, brain melting powerful magic that is easy to do.
Both Eric and Myles are so good teachers. They take the time to explain every detail in such an understandable way that you will learn your desired routine from either lecture so easily that you will have so much fun learning and performing it. These guys make you a better magician and a much better performer than you might think of. Eric and Myles not only show and explain you the tricks, they both give you so much insides and tipps on how to perform those routines and tell you that you have to find your own way of performing it but with a lot of hints why they do what they do. Why this is working for them and why this might work for you and give you a lot of ideas how you can present/perform it differently and make it your own.

I really liked it a lot. I rewatched this lecture a several times.

I instantly took The One-Armed Man into my repertoire and I made some tweaks to make it my own.

I just want to say thank you to Eric for this lecture and I hope Vanishing Inc will invite him back for one or more lectures because I think Eric has some more brain melting magic to share, up his sleeve ( he even teaches you sleeving in this lecture in the Hot Rod part :D )

Ok. That's it. Done. Over and Out

This is jammed packed from being to end. Everything is taught in great detail. The material on this lecture are workers. There are card, coin effects as well a mentalism effect. Also you get see some Eric's work on the hot rod. He is a true master of the Hot rod and in his hands its a display of visual fireworks.

Eric recently did a lecture here in Phoenix and it was great! I'm glad to see that much of the lecture material is in this download along with plenty of other excellent effects. Happenstance & Tribloon are highlights for me but all of the material is worthwhile. You won't be disappointed with this lecture!

I know it's a cliche, but this lecture really has something for everyone. Normally, I consider myself lucky if I end up adding one of the routines from a lecture to my repertoire. In this case, I know I'll add several! Like so many other magicians, I enjoy card magic that has powerful impact but isn't too difficult. You'll get several examples of EXACTLY that in this lecture. Everyone knows how hard it is to fool a magician's wife, and I've already blown mine away with a couple of these items ("Happenstance" and "Mercury Catch"). Of course, you also get the real work on some of Eric's Hot Rod moves, some coin routines, and even a little bit of mental magic.

The true value of this lecture, however, lies in the thoughts Eric shares about performance theory. I personally plan to watch those sections again several times in order to glean from the wisdom they contain. What's more, watching Eric interact with his participants will teach about more than just magic; you'll learn a thing or two about how to be a decent human being. Remember Leipzig's mantra: "The audience likes to be fooled by a gentleman." Eric Stevens is gentleman, and he's going to fool you.
