This is a great book. There is no real magic routines in this book but it is a encyclopedia of card sleights that is very easy to understand. I have a problem understanding sleights when reading from a book. I am more of a visual learner. But I have no problem following along with this book in learning the sleights. Since I am a beginner, I keep this book handy to refer to when studying other books since many books just refer to the sleight and don't go into detail into the specifics of how to do the sleight. The only downside I have it that it is a large format book so it doesnt fit well on my bookshelf. Not a big deal as it is always seems to just live on my desk as I am always referring to it when practicing.

I'm a sucker for older books on magic. I enjoy reading some of the ways magic was presented in the past. When browsing, I thought this book looked like a bargain, and it is. Wonderful illustrations, clear explanations and something we can all stand to remember, from the foreward by Francis Haxton: "...smoothness is often more important than speed."
