Derren Brown's first book for magicians in 20 years has finally arrived!

After the first printing sold out instantly, Vanishing Inc. has secured the exclusive early access rights to the highly-anticipated second printing. We have a limited number of copies that are anticipated to sell quickly.

Beautifully written, sympathetic, humorous and self-deprecating, Notes From a Fellow Traveller was created using notes from a journal Derren kept during his sell-out 2022/23 Showman tour. Enjoy thirty years of mentalism, meaning and mistakes spelled out across the 520 pages of this amazing book.

This intimate look into the mind of one of the world's most famous mentalists is a rare one that you must seize. He discusses everything from writing and performance to material selection, character, script, handling spectators and more. Even if you have no intention of ever putting on a formal show, the contents of this book will inspire you and reshape how you approach your overall performance.

"This may be the most important book about performing magic ever written. I cannot think of another book where a star and veteran performer has so openly explained the deepest secrets of how they have created and developed their material. It’s essential and amazing." Andy Nyman

"It is wonderful. For those prepared to invest the time, it's one of the most important books ever written on magic, THE MOST insightful and important book ever written on the performance of magic, and one of the best books I have ever read about ANY KIND of performance. I found it moving and honest and am thrilled and honoured to have played a small part in it being able to be written." Andrew O'Connor

Created by The NEAT Review, this section-sewn, linen cloth-covered hardback book is a thing of beauty. The debossed foil block type and cream endpapers pair perfectly with the curved spine and red bookmark ribbon to make this a standout in any book collection.

Notes From a Fellow Traveller is highly recommended reading for all magicians and mentalists. You do not want to miss the chance to get your hands on one of these limited release books before they're gone.

Customer reviews for Notes From a Fellow Traveller

This book, is extremely great for what it is meant for. If you are purchasing this book to learn effects, you won't find it that amusing. Now if you are, looking for tips and hints, about putting together a show, from a road warrior. This is the book, that is full of great tips. I highly recommend this book. VI, also encountered some hiccups with customs, however in the great customer service that VI, has been known for. They did give a free download, for the delay. Now I myself had already purchased the download previously. Now I am extremely grateful for Vi. VI really, took care of me during some really tough times. I cannot say enough about the way Vi, has taken customer service to the stratosphere.

Really enjoying the latest by Derren Brown. The book is really well written and there are some excellent tips on here around showmanship and putting a show together. If you are a Derren fan you will find a lot of nuggets in the book. I can highly recommend this fun, insightful and easy read. Highly recommended.

If you are serious about how a show should be built, this book should be at the top of your list. The wisdom and understanding Brown shares in this book is pure gold! Derren shares a lifetime's worth of experience. Actually, he shares more than that because he shares advice and lessons he learned from others. This is not for the casual magician, but If you are a pro, this is worth 10X the price!

  • John asks: Is the "table of contents" and "index" to The Traveler online that I can see?

    • 1. Mijrin answers: I got the book a while ago. And can tell you that the table of contents isnt really that important. The book reads as a kind of journal or diary that Derren wrote for himself. Little reminders of what went well or poorly within every performance while he was on tour. He seems to have written these notes the morning after his performances. The ‘content’ itself is must more of a ‘self help’ / advice kind of book. It feels very much like the kind of content you might find in Maximum Entertainment, but from Derren’s POV. There is 1 method in here, however the rest of the book contains no methods for effects. But the book is a very enjoyable read which should give you some food for thought. I hope this helps :)
