The first-ever book chronicling the entire Herrmann dynasty. The Herrmann Chronicles is an invaluable resource for all magicians and historians.
James Hamilton was the world's foremost authority on the Herrmann dynasty of magicians from Alexander to Adelaide, Compars, Samuel, Léon, and Felix. He adored all of them and spent over 50 years researching, collecting, and emulating his idols.
He kept many of his most spirited lectures and stories in a dog-earned notebook that was lovingly referred to as the "Herrmann Bible". Those notes ultimately served as the cornerstone of this highly-anticipated, very ambitious, multi-biography of all the Herrmanns.
Sadly, James Hamilton passed away before completing his book. He did, however, leave behind a significant partial manuscript exquisitely detailing the origins of the Herrmann family, as well as the life and career of Compars Herrmann. His final wish was for his life's work to be published for the world to enjoy. Thankfully for us, his friends, and fellow Herrmann historians, David Haversat and Margaret Steel, were willing to bring this dream to reality.
The Herrmann Chronicles is a captivating compendium of James Hamilton's unpublished manuscript, his lecture monographs, and selected images from his extensive Herrmann collection. This important historical resource contains a vast amount of research that isn't available anywhere else. Only 500 copies of this first edition book were printed.
Using the first-person voice, the duo perfectly captures James' passion. It's like he's speaking directly from the pages as your guided through all the fascinating nooks and crannies of the Herrmann dynasty. Enjoy previously-unseen explorations of unique details like Alexander Herrmann's passion for horses and for smoking, Léon Herrmann's partnership with future Paramount Pictures founder Jesse L. Lasky, and Felix Herrmann's vicious feud with his Aunt Adelaide. It's a first-hand journey to bygone era, in which Jame's life was inhabited by friends such as Moi-Yo Miller, Channing Pollack, and Kirk Kirkham.
Every magician, magic enthusiast, or history buff needs to have The Herrmann Chronicles in their library.
