I appreciate how this approach can be used with a normal Sharpie so it's ready for impromptu situations. I wasn't able to get it to work for a strip of paper like I had hoped but for paper money this is great!

No "arts and crafts". There is a little one time preparation. Really is an instant re set. Just borrow a bill and good to go. Run through the handling a few times, and you will be set.
