The Death Camp Magicians The Death Camp Magicians The Death Camp Magicians

This book is a FASCINATING, HARROWING account of Werner Reich's true story of survival. Werner Reich is a friend to Vanishing Inc, and his book has been unavailable for some time. We're delighted to bring it back due to popular demand.

Werner Reich was captured and imprisoned when he was 15 years old and spent time in three different concentration camps. While at Auschwitz, he saw a magician--the Great Nivelli--do a card trick, and this spawned a lifelong interest in magic. This is the story of Werner Reich and Nivelli, and includes Werner's amazing story of survival. Beautifully researched and written by Bill Rauscher, this is a magic book unlike any other in your collection.

Softcover. 215 pages. Generously photographed.

This is an excellent read, and harrowing at the same time. Some of the photos are quite upsetting but needs to be seen to be reminded of the atrocities that happened. Please read this book, it is an eye opener in many ways. The story is truly fascinating but be prepared to shake your head in disbelief. I could not put this book down. Everyone should own a copy of this book. Get it!

First, some personal information:
I am Jewish and close to 63 years old.
I grew up with teachers, family friends and mentors who were blessed to survive the Holocaust.
I’ve, throughout my lifetime, heard firsthand experiences from these people I knew closely. Most since passed.
The stories of their endurance-what they were willing to share with me, would curl your toes and bend your mind.
In addition, I’ve read more books, seen more actual film and heard more from actual survivors than most people want to hear or know.
Years ago, I told myself I would never read another book about this period in history. That was until I saw this book in your catalog.
I have to thank you for sharing this hidden history with the world.
Two other books came with my order. I haven’t even opened them yet. I’ve spent every moment since its arrival today forcing myself to read this particular book.
It’s been painful and uplifting at the same time.
There are still many who deny that any of this travesty ever happened. It did.
I’ve never heard of these two survivors before. This story is unique and important.
A must read for many reasons.
I’ve
Now run out of words except one more thank you and the subjects of this history for making this history available.
It hits me in a way I don’t wish to describe.
Peace!

A very harrowing read, the book begins with a look at the Nazis, Jewish magicians, Nevelli, and then details Werner Reich's experiences in the death camps. That he survived at all seems miraculous, that he survived with his humanity intact doubly so. My wife is Jewish, and having met Holocaust survivors at our local temple and hearing their stories made this a gripping read. Recommended.
