When it comes to impromptu book tests, Hoy remains a classic. This video offers a lot of advice for using the principle, and I especially appreciated how it can also be applied to CAAN prompts, though I'd hesitate to call either of those an "ANY Card at ANY number." It's also important to note that using the Hoy technique well requires a bold approach that some people just don't have or that some spectators simply won't allow. Gerard does a nice job of explaining what to do if one of your spectators wants to see the card you're looking at or to check if you're actually on the page you say you are, it might not be right for you, but you need to be the type of performer who can go along with that well.
I knew what the Hoy Principle was, but bought the video anyway, assuming I would learn some tips and tricks that would help me create awesome moments. My assumption proved correct, except that I ended up learning a lot more than I expected. It may get me kicked out of the magic fraternity, but I confess I'm not really a fan of ACAAN. (Gasp!) But the Hoy version taught on the video is clever enough that I actually want to perform it now. This is a great value.
