New versions just added!

These stunning Japanese Puzzle Boxes are part wooden puzzle and part work of art. Each one has been handmade in Ashi Lake, Japan, by a village of artisans that has dedicated more than 300 years to mastering the art of Yosegi and using it to craft fine wood gifts.

Multiple incredible versions are available for those of all ages and skill levels. As each Japanese Puzzle Box is handmade, extremely limited quantities are available.

NEW - Yosegi Deluxe Fuji Box (10 Steps)
This amazing Japanese puzzle box was handcrafted in Japan using authentic Yosegi inlay styling. The breathtaking Fuji mountain and flower designs command attention (and are similar to those found on the premium 21-step model). It takes 10 steps to solve this puzzle box, but don't let that fool you. It is sure to put your mind to the test. This deluxe secret box is a perfect puzzle art piece for any office or coffee table. You'll love using this puzzle to challenge friends and family when they come over.

Size: 6 x 4 x 2.7 inches

NEW - Yosegi 5-Sun Deluxe Box (35+1 Steps)
Put your brain to the ultimate test with this absolutely incredible Japanese secret box. This amazing handcrafted puzzle was built to perfection using the finest woods and ancient inlay techniques. It's a precious box for precious objects, which is why getting it open is no easy task. It is easily one of the most difficult puzzles we offer, but also one of the most gratifying. You'll need to complete 35 steps (+ one bonus step) to solve this puzzle...and it is so worth it. This deluxe Koyosegi puzzle box doubles as a unique work of art when not in use and is a surefire conversation starter.

Size: 6 x 4 x 2.7 inches

Yosegi Puzzle Box (10 Steps)
This beautiful Yosegi Puzzle Box is the same wooden puzzle that baffled and entertained guests of Joshua Jay’s Six Impossible Things. It is slightly smaller than the premium version. And, while it has just 10 steps, it still offers its own unique challenges. Everyone from beginners to expert puzzlers enjoys this wooden puzzle. With a stunning Yosegi inlay, it’s a gorgeous addition to any collection and can be used as a gift box or given as a unique gift itself.

Size: 5 x 3.5 x 2 inches

Premium Fuji Yosegi Puzzle Box (21 Steps)
The Premium Fuji Yosegi Puzzle Box is one of our most challenging puzzles for adults. It takes 21 steps to open and has taken some puzzlers hours to open. In addition to the Yosegi design, it is also adorned with an eye-catching inlay of Mount Fuji and the precious Tsubaki flower. Even after you’ve solved this art puzzle, it will live a long life in your collection as unique home decor and a great conversation piece.

Premium Size: 6 x 4 x 2.5 inches

My living room tables are cluttered with puzzle boxes, including the 21 step version of this box. I've just acquired the 35 step version, which is a variation on the theme established by its less complex predecessor. If you can solve the 21 step version, the 35 step version presents little additional challenge. I love both of these boxes because the solution is logical and sequential. There is nothing random about it. You're not going to stumble on the solution, but once you catch on to the algorithm, each successive step becomes increasingly clear. Reason, not guesswork, is rewarded. And these days, that's nothing to sneeze at.

What a beautiful box this is. I have the Fuji Yosegi Box. Being a woodworker myself I can deeply appreciate the craftsmanship that was put into this. I have not managed to open it yet but I have made it far enough to begin to see the internals and it looks like the workmanship on the inside is just as impressive. The box is pricey but a lot work went in to it and I am quite pleased with it.

I have always wanted one of these and now I have one — the more complex, 21 move monster. The ingenuity of the design and quality of construction more than justify the price! If dazzlingly complex puzzles grab and hold your attention, this is a must. It comes with a printed solution — and that's a good thing!

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: These are the exterior dimensions as we do not have the interior dimensions on hand: Yosegi Puzzle Box: 5 x 3.5 x 2 inches Premium Fuji Yosegi Puzzle Box: 6 x 4 x 2.5 inches Depending on the size of the earrings, it is more than possible to comfortably place them inside.
