Inspired by the classic street scam Disk Monte, "Coaster Monte" is a compact, visual, and captivating routine with a surprise twist that leaves a lasting impression.
You introduce three coasters with poker chips printed on them. One is red and two are blue. A participant is then challenged to follow and find the elusive red coaster as they are mixed face down. Despite how closely they watch, they never guess right.
For the final phase, you try to make it even easier for them by placing a red poker chip directly on the back of the red coaster. This allows them to see where the red coaster is, even when face down. Yet still, as a final twist, it's revealed that the red coaster still ended up in a completely unexpected spot.
The specially-designed "Coaster Monte" gimmick makes this routine easy enough for any magician to perform. No complex sleight of hand is required. The coasters are also designed to look normal and blend into any environment. Since everything resets quickly, it's practical enough for any close up or walkaround performer.
