Emergence - magic
Emergence Emergence Emergence Emergence Emergence Emergence Emergence Emergence

A coin disappears at your fingertips before visually reappearing inside a normal glass. No cover. No moves. Both the coin and glass are examinable. This technological marvel is as close to real magic as youā€™ll ever come.

"Incredible" Craig Petty

ā€œThis has always been one of my dream effects in my mind for a long time. Thank you for turning it into realityā€¦absolutely amazing!ā€ Henry Harrius

ā€œEmergenceā€ by Tim Hill is a state-of-the-art electronic device that allows you to perform a mind-blowing coin transposition that feels like a camera trick in real life. This revolutionary, completely -custom device is not only practicall, but is one of the easiest ways to get huge reactions from every audience. In fact, the full performance above uses no sleight of hand at all.

After making a coin vanish from your hand, it lands with an audible clink in an ordinary glass that is across the table or even on the other side of the stage. Laypeople and magicians alike are stunned every time they see and hear the moment it happensā€”especially when they discover the coin is completely normal.

This is the perfect finale to your Coins Across, Coins To Glass, or any of your other favorite coin magic routines (we love combining it with ā€œTriad Coinsā€). Tim has been closing his show for years by using ā€œEmergenceā€ to perform an amazing no sleight-of-hand routine.

A Technological Masterpiece

As Arthur C. Clarkeā€™s famously said: ā€Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magicā€. There is no better example of this than ā€œEmergenceā€. Hiding in plain sight, this devious gimmick goes completely undetected by everyone (even magicians). Itā€™s a modern marvel that works in any environment from close-up and parlor shows to stage work.

In fact, ā€œEmergenceā€ is so ingeniously constructed that, weā€™ve decided to break one of our biggest rules. You can see exactly how it works by watching the trailer above. Check it out before continuing. Like us, youā€™ll be convinced Tim is a time traveler. Heā€™s clearly been to the future and brought back one of the most innovative, powerful, and fun high-tech magic gadgets weā€™ve ever seen.

Like our own Tony Stark, Tim is obsessed with creating magic. In his role as Vanishing Inc. product manager, heā€™s particularly passionate about uncovering novel ways that technology can be discreetly used to bring to life magic that wouldnā€™t be possible without its assistance. He helps make the magic of our dreams a reality. After more than eight years of painstaking work, weā€™re excited to bring you his greatest creation yet.

ā€œ'Emergence' is a stunning moment of magic and a technical marvel. It is also the clearest example yet that Tim Hill is a master craftsman!ā€Ryan Plunkett

"This type of magic is heard, not seen, with a clever device that stays hidden in plain sight!" ... Let's Gooo!!ā€ Magik Balay

ā€œIf I could do real magic, I would still rather use Tim Hillā€™s ā€˜Emergenceā€™. Why? Because I trust the gimmick more than I trust myself! It is just that well-made and brilliantly designed. If you perform coin magic this is a must have! I have seen Tim perform this effect himself many times in our Comedy Magic Cabaret and it never fails to astound the audience. The look on their faces is priceless. If you donā€™t perform coin magic. ā€˜Emergenceā€™ is the best reason to start now!ā€Kerry Pollock

Special Vanishing Inc. Exclusive Offer and Warranty

Anyone who purchases ā€œEmergenceā€ from Vanishing Inc. is eligible for a 12-month limited warranty. While Tim has spent countless hours fine-tuning and testing each device, there is always the possibility with electronics that something could go wrong. Have a question about this product? It's possible others do too. Ask here and other Vanishing Inc. Magic customers will be able to respond with assistance! Alternatively, email us and we can help too.

  • Johnny asks: Hi. Looks amazing. Can I just ask how easy is the reset - does the gimmick need taking out the box first? Also, do you know if a 2 pound coin will work? Thinking about the thickness rather than the diameter. Thanks very much.

    • 1. Brian answers: A Ā£2 coin will not work, however a 10p coin will
    • 2. Mark answers: Johnny, I think the confusion is coming because you are using a word incorrectly. 10p coins are NOT magnetic; they are plated steel and are ATTRACTED to magnets, however they themselves do not have magnetic properties. Hope this helps the conversation.
    • 3. Brian answers: Thank you Mark and Joe for confirming my reply as correct.
    • 4. Johnny answers: Hi, thanks, but I think this is more of a semantic thing. 'Magnetic' can refer to both something that generates a magnetic field and something attracted to it, like steel. It's common to use 'magnetic' to describe objects attracted to magnets, as the Royal Mint does here: https://www.royalmint.com/stories/collect/why-are-some-uk-coins-magnetic/. While I get you're being more technically precise, both usages are correct depending on context. But anyway, letā€™s just say we are all correct and move on! :)
    • 5. David answers: ????wicked
    • 6. Johnny answers: Thanks very much, Brian. Regarding a 10 pence, they are magnetic, so would that still work?
    • 7. Brian answers: 10p coins are not magnetic, however it will work 100% of the time. I know this because I asked Tim at the Blackpool Magic Convention and he allowed me to try it for myself and it worked with no issues
    • 8. Peter answers: The Royal Mint copywriter is just being slack. Coins are not magnetic. Period. They can be attracted to magnets, but they are not in themselves magnetic. We can all abbreviate, modify and adapt language to suit, but speaking factually - and ignoring the individual whims of writers - coins are not magnetic.
    • 9. Johnny answers: 10p coins have been made from a plated steel since 2012 so they are magnetic, and therefore are the version mostly in circulation.
    • 10. Rene answers: The main difference is that a ferromagnetic 10p is worth precisely 10p, and a magnetic 10p goes for 30 dlls. And yes , it will work with a non magnetic 10p.
    • 11. Joe answers: The correct way to say it would be that the 10p coin is ferris, not magnetic.

  • Ash asks: How loud is the gimmick? I've tried other electronic devices and you had to be in a loud environment to be able to mask the noise

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: There is a very small "mechanical" sound that happens when the door opens but is covered with normal background noise or music
  • Mike asks: How does the coin leave your hand? Where does it go?

    • 1. Brian answers: You would perform a vanish If this is something you're not experienced at doing, this isn't for you unless you spent a good hour or 2 practising coin vanishes It can be performed by anyone but you need to perform a coin vanish
    • 2. Corbett answers: This is likely not the trick/effect for you if this is your first question.

  • Bruce asks: Is the USB charging port USB-C or Micro-USB?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It's micro USB. Hope that helps.
  • Brian asks: AT LAST !!!! I was very fortunate and lucky to witness Tim perform this at this year's Blackpool Magic Convention (2024) and I still have the video on my phone from when I filmed him demonstrating it (with his permission of course) I held the gimmick in my hand and it feels absolutely well built and sturdy and you would not be disappointed if you got this He was also selling these at the Vanishing Inc stand at the comvention and I was one of the first to see it and have a look at it Excellent product and will last a lifetime if looked after properly

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Thanks!
  • Peter asks: Rechargeable battery but can you change this out or is it built into the device.

    • 1. Brian answers: Built into the device. Look after it and it will last a lifetime

  • Michael asks: Can you already have a coin or coins in the glass when the effect happens? Also, can the gimmick be placed in something other than a card deck?

    • 1. Brian answers: You can have an empty glass or a glass with coins in - its upto you how you perform this. You could place the gimmick in something else BUT you would have to make an "opening" to cover the "lid" of the gimmick. Personally I'd use the card box as no-one would suspect the coin coming from the card box anyway
Post an answer to this question
  • Paul asks: What is the tolerance/accuracy of the coin toss? Does it vary with size of coin (Half Dollar vs. Quarter)? In other words: how far away from the glass opening can the device be; how small in diameter can the opening be; how tall can the glass be for the coin to land in it 99% of the time? Is it possible to place the device on a servante behind and lower that the table and still be accurate to deliver the coin to a 5" tall wine or champagne glass that has a diameter 3.25 - 3.5" wide? Will that accuracy be maintained for Half Dollar-sized coins?

    • 1. Brian answers: You can adjust the distance and strength of the coin leaving the gimmick but I'd say 9 inches would be a good distance apart and you want the misdirection to be away from the glass/gimmick so they don't see the coin fly into the glass from the box

  • David asks: How many coins can the gimmick hold?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: One coin
  • Guy asks: What is a coin?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: A flat, typically round piece of metal with an official stamp, used as money.
  • Joe asks: How difficult is it to prepare the card box? I'm a hobbyist with hands that, because of my being of a ripe, old age, are not as dexterous as they once were.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: I am 52, and am allergic to arts and crafts anything. I managed to prepare the card box first try. You just need to cut out a square and tape one hinge. It comes with a template for doing this. Just make sure you have a very sharp exacto blade. You got this.
  • Michael asks: How long can the gimmick remain prepped and in an 'on' position before firing? For instance, could I introduce the props onstage at the beginning of a longer show and fire it like an hour later without having to touch the gimmick again?

    • 1. Jim answers: About four hours. Then it goes to sleep, to conserve battery energy.

  • Lewis asks: Will there ever be an option to use Morgan dollar sized coins?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No plans for that.
  • Vladimir asks: It is possibly sign the coin and then load it to gimmick or let ring disappear and then load it in

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It is not
  • Peter asks: Does this come with a prepped ready to use card box?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No, because everyone prefers different card cases. The "DIY" will take you about 3 minutes. You just need a sharp exacto blade and some tape. You get a plastic template to follow which makes it child's play!
  • Matthew asks: Is it possible to use the box as an ordinary box, ie: holding a deck of cards from a card trick performed earlier; or do I have to incorporate a deck switch to ring in the gaffed box?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: You would need to perform a deck switch if you wanted to approach the performance this way
  • Simon asks: hello Can I know the name of the deck he uses in the Back in time routine? (I have Emergence )

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: He is using a red Bicycle deck
  • Simon asks: Lol ??. Is it a gimmick deck?witch one?
