"Get Out" by Timothy Paul is the perfect addition to your close-up set. It's rare that you can add an interlude that offers a clear premise, comedy relief, and visual magic, all in one moment. The effect is simple: you fail to find a selected card, and so instead suggest using a "Get Out of Jail Free" card from a popular board game. The card then disappears and reappears as a playing card...the selected card.

What you receive with "Get Out" is a stunning, handmade gaff that allows you to change a small board game piece into a playing card. Splitting cards, small magnets, and a lot of painstaking time have been spent hand-crafting each of these gimmicks. They will last a lifetime and there's no moving parts that can wear out, snap, break, or come loose. It will work forever.

"Get Out" is an ideal piece for formal close-up, parlor, or strolling magic, and the gaff comes with an instructional download in which creator Timothy Paul takes you through every step of the process.

Includes handmade gimmick and online instructions.

I think I would have given this 4 stars if it wasn't for the download. The gimmick at first was a little disappointing but it is way more practical than other visual camera tricks. Timothy does a great job explaining everything in detail, and he also provides several other variations and routine. I personally think everything can come up with their own presentation or routine. This product shows again why Vanishing Inc is the best magic company in the business.

I have not received the gimmick yet, but watch the instructional video. All I can say up to this point is that what you see in the video is not only what you get. Timothy shows several routines with some extra item, which is included, waiting to put my hands on “Get Out”. I will leave another review as soon as the gimmick arrive, so far congratulations to Tim.

  • Liam asks: Do you need to make it vanish first?

    • 1. Timothy Cacciolo (creator) responds: Hey Liam, thank you for your question. This is Tim, the creator of Get Out. The gimmick allows the card to vanish and change at the same time. It’s super easy!
  • Ben asks: Hate to ask but on scale of 1 - 5 (1 self working/ easy, 5 knuklebuster) how difficult are the moves?

    • 1. Doug answers: I’d say 1 if you have graduated the Chavez School. Otherwise I’d say 3 for the novice. And if you are a neophyte new I’d say 4. If you are a convicted felon the emotional significance may wat so heavily it may be a 6. Especially if the card forced is a “key”card. So really it depends.
    • 2. Timothy Cacciolo (creator) responds: Hello Ben, Thank you for your question! That is always difficult to answer, being that everyone’s skill set is different. I feel pretty comfortable saying the basic change is a 2. The gimmick does almost all of the work for you!

  • Ben asks: Can it be repeated to the same audience?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Well, you *could* repeat it, but not sure why you'd want to :)
  • Timothy asks: Is the gimmick really as sturdy and dependable as depicted in the description.? I’ve had a lot of gimmick issues as of late and would like a gimmick with longevity.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Each one is hand made to exacting standards. That said, it is a playing card, so will last as long as you'd expect a piece of card to last - all depends on how well you treat it. If you get it and are unhappy, we offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee so if you ship it back to us in good condition, we'll refund you.
  • Henry asks: If one is reasonably competent with arts and crafts, can the gimmick be modified to be used with any items of similar dimensions?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Each one is painstakingly hand made to do this one effect. Tiny magnets, splitting cards etc. I guess you could rip it apart to make something else, but... not sure I would recommend it.
  • Christophe asks: Do you need special clothing for this trick, or can you perform it in a shirt?

    • 1. Timothy Cacciolo (creator) responds: To perform Get Out you don’t need any special clothing requirements. You can be naked but we’d recommend at least pants :)
  • Don asks: I couldn't hear any noise in the video...is the gimmick silent? ....truly, a very nice change.

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Almost.
  • One asks: Is this actually practical or is it the type of trick where you need specific light setting and tricky angles?

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No lighting requirements at all and very good angles.
  • Richard asks: Is the gimmick silent? Also do you need to have the gimmick in sight like in the video / it would make more sense to ring it in after you ‘made a mistake’ thanks....

    • 1. Agustin answers: There is a variation that Tim explains on the instructional video.

  • Christophe asks: Does this trick use a force?

    • 1. Agustin answers: The gimmick will help you to accomplish that, and is clearly explained by Tim.

  • Mike asks: Can the audience inspect the playing card after the switch

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Yes, with a minor move.
  • Akane asks: Can you show the get out of jail card front and back before the change

    • 1. Agustin answers: Don’t see the reason why, but there is something included that might facilitate/help you to do that, but don’t see the need to do it. “In my opinion”.

  • Royce asks: Can the card be examined afterwards?

    • 1. Timothy Cacciolo (creator) responds: Hey Royce, thanks for your question. To correct Vanishing inc. response here the card CAN be examined afterwards. Mike asked the same question (two questions up) and Vanishing Inc response there was with a minor move. That’s the correct answer :)
    • 2. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: No, it's a hand-made, heavily gimmicked card.
    • 1. Timothy Cacciolo (creator) responds: Hey Royce, thanks for your question. To correct Vanishing inc. response here the card CAN be examined afterwards. Mike asked the same question (two questions up) and Vanishing Inc response there was with a minor move. That’s the correct answer :)
  • Thomas asks: I perform a routine which has a force card which continues to appear and disappear. It would be great if the spectator's card could match that other card. Is the spectator's card always the King of Hearts? If so, is it easier to create gaffed alternates?

    • 1. Timothy Cacciolo (creator) responds: The card will always be a court card, depending on which one you receive when you purchase Get Out. It will be pretty difficult to create your own gaff but not impossible!
  • Charlie asks: Hey, V inc. Is there a choice of what card we get? Thanks

    • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: Unfortunately not.
  • Lawrence asks: Would it be possible to manually alter the artwork? i.e. to change it from a get out of jail card to something else by perhaps gluing a different face to the card? Thanks.

    • Kam asks: for some one with small hands how hard would you say it is both moves you have to do and also the skill.

      • 1. Vanishing Inc. Magic responds: It's pretty simple, the gaff does most of the work for you.
