Stand-Up, A Professional Guide to Comedy Magic explains all the techniques required to achieve these goals. It is a step by step manual on how to combine comedy with magic, from writing original lines through to developing your stage persona to maximizing the benefits of audience participation.

Customer reviews for Stand-up: A Professional Guide to Comedy Magic

This is a book I have had for nearly 10 years. It is wonderful insight into Comedy Magic from a stand-up performer's point of view. Since then, there are more books and DVDs on the market dedicated to this subject, however this book I find still relevant.

For all of us close-up entertainers, there is a wealth of information that can be adapted to suit the close up scene, however the book dedicates most of its pages to those stand up performers ie Mel Mellers and Mac King to name a few.

Overall the books was insightful and well-written and gave me a lot to think about my own performances. It is well-written and an enjoyable read.

This is a great book to read. the book makes it clear what the difference is between jokes and character lines / situational lines and character situational lines. for me this is the best part of the book. this is the point where you can be different and nobody can steal your lines. if i start a new routine i use this book as a reference, refreshment to get a good look again on me and my magic. a must have for the serious student of magic who uses humour and comedy.
