A Letter from a Magifest Scholarship Parent
By Vanishing Inc. - Tuesday, February 4, 2020
This year, our Magifest youth scholarship allowed 72 young magicians and their parents to come to the convention for free. Seeing the young magicians grow over the weekend is a highlight of our year, and this email that we just received from a parent the day after Magifest 2020 confirms what we already knew. It's really important to keep doing this.
Our son attended Magifest this past weekend for the first time and it was life changing. He came back happier, purpose driven (magic all day every day) and full of tricks and shows. My husband and I felt very grateful that he went and felt carefree and without worry.
We have had a hard year financially and we had to tell our son that he couldn’t attend the convention. His aunt told him about your scholarship and he immediately began planning his charity show. He learned so much from just that experience alone. He was fortunate enough to get a scholarship. He went with his aunt and had the time of his life.
He has talked non-stop about his experience and I am overwhelmed with the content of our discussions. What I heard from the hours of discussions is the following.....
Mommy they think I have talent.
Mommy they watched me over and over.
Mommy when I messed up they helped me.
Mommy they were nice.
Mommy they taught me everything.
Mommy they let me choose books for free to learn more.
Mommy I miss being there.
Mommy I can be like them if I practice.
Thank you for this opportunity, not just for the magic of it all but for the magic of it all.
