Garrett Thomas is excited to appear at Magifest 2022. Before then, he’s going to tell you a little bit more about himself and what he plans to cover during his lecture. Highlights include the process he implemented to create some of the most popular magic tricks ever made, including his work with David Blaine and the strategies he used to fool Penn and Teller.

What Is your favorite convention memory?
Watching Juan Tamariz perform for me at 4am in the lobby of the 4F Convention.
What legacy do you hope to leave on the magic world?
That it is possible to perform authentically as a real magician in the modern age.
What excites you most about the future of magic?
Discovering what will be magic in new theaters.
What’s one mistake in your career you encourage others not to repeat?
Taking competitions too seriously. Create the magic tricks that you would want, not what judges would want. [Your] only competition is [yourself].
What do you consider to be “real magic”?
Real magic is any experience that you have that is not true. [It] can be organic like rainbows, or can be manifested in the hands of a magician.

What’s your favorite fun fact?
There is no wavelength for the color purple. Purple is an illusion.
