Meet The Team - Jason
By Vanishing Inc. - Sunday, April 25, 2021
We're thrilled to announce Jason as the newest member of our team! An accomplished magician and key member of the production team at Joshua Jay's Six Impossible Things, Jason is an exciting addition to the Vanishing Inc. family. While he's actually been working hard behind the scenes since the beginning of year, we wanted to take a moment now to formerly introduce him and allow him to tell you a little bit more about himself.
Who are you and what do you do at Vanishing Inc. Magic?
Hi, my name is Jason Silberman and I'm a Support Wizard.
What got you into magic?
I was always into magic because I had a magic kit growing up but my interest didn’t spark until I saw a local magician at my friend’s birthday party and he performed the sponge balls on me. I later saw him at other parties after that and I still had no clue how that ball got into my hand. As corny as it sounds, it was the feeling of amazement that hooked me.
What sort of magic do you do?
I mainly perform a lot of walk around magic but I’ve been getting into stand-up magic recently. I find myself performing more with cards than any other prop but I’m always trying to find routines that pack small and play big.
Who are you magical heroes?
This is a tough one. Here’s my top five in no particular order: Tom Mullica, Dani DaOrtiz, Daryl, Asi Wind and an up and comer named Joshua Jay.
What’s your favorite magic book?
I’m currently reading Strong Magic by Darwin Ortiz (which has been on my list for a loooong time) but I often find myself re-reading Maximum Entertainment more than any other book on my shelf. I also love my copy of “Showtime at the Tom Foolery” which is out of print and is my prized possession.
What’s your favorite magic trick?
Apart from card tricks, I think any dollar bill transposition is so powerful. I currently keep the "Versatile Transport" Ryan Plunkett's amazing book Distilled in my wallet at all times. I also love the Chop Cup because you can do it close up and on stage.
What’s one bit of advice you can share you’ve learned over the years?
Sometimes the most powerful magic effects are the simplest. Give each effect your learn the dedicated time it deserves.
I regularly perform effects from The Boy Who Cried Magic, Principia and some of Vanishing Inc's exclusive downloads. I also do Inferno in-person and in my virtual magic shows a ton.
